What's New
at REDWOOD GLEN
WELCOME
OUR
VISION:
"To Reflect Christ through Serving
Others."
A WORD
FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
As I begin
my 9th year as Executive Director
of Redwood Glen, I am so blessed to see how
God continues to provide opportunities for
children, youth, and adults to come to this
beautiful place we call Redwood Glen and have
their lives transformed by the presence of God.
Over 48
years ago
people and congregations
from churches all over the greater Bay Area
and beyond turned God’s vision of a camp for
children, youth, and adults into reality.
The summer
of 2008 Redwood Glen will
celebrate 50 years of ministry, and we look
forward to hearing many, many stories of
lives changed, ministry calls received,
relationships healed, and renewed hope for
pastors and lay leaders. We want to hear
your Redwood Glen story.
As an
independent Christian camp, we value
our partnerships with individuals, families,
and churches to help us continue to provide
this beautiful place for individuals and
groups to come get away from the distractions
of life and become focused on their faith
journey with God.
My hope is
that you will become a full
partner in our ministry. Give me a call or
email me to explore how you can become part
of Redwood Glen’s ministry. You will be
blessed as you become a blessing for others.

Nordgaard, Executive Director

MacArthur
Makeover
While
tending to some improvements at
MacArthur cabin last month, our Facilities Crew
uncovered undetected plumbing leaks that had
created wood rot and mold in the walls,
floor, and ceiling.
The
decision was made to immediately remove
MacArthur from guest group reservations,
strip the building to its studs, and rebuild
the interior. When complete, the new
MacArthur cabin will look like Sunshine cabin
with
double-paned windows, insulation, remodeled
bathrooms, and new walls, floors, roof, and ceiling.
The
estimated cost for the project is
$20,000.00. The targeted completion is late
March. There is much to do, and many dollars
that still need to be raised to finance this
unexpected endeavor.
Originally
built with funds donated by
MacArthur Baptist Church in San Pablo, the
new MacArthur cabin will be rebuilt through
the volunteer efforts and generosity of
friends of Redwood Glen, like you!
If you
are skilled in electrical work, plumbing, or
home remodeling and would like to offer your
services, please contact us at info@redwoodglen.com.
If you
would like to make a donation toward
the new MacArthur cabin, please send your
gift to Redwood Glen and note: "MacArthur
Makeover". If you like to make your donation
via credit card, please call the camp office
at (650) 879-0320.
Next month,
we will update you on our
progress, as well as provide you history
about MacArthur cabin and stories of
MacArthur moments
from readers like you!

Staff
highlight: MARSHALL
Each month
we will be highlighting a Redwood
Glen staff member. We begin with our new
Associate Director, Marshall Coleman, who
comes to California from Massachusetts, and
Grotonwood Baptist Camp and Conference Center.
With nearly
30 years of Christian camping
experience, "there is not one role I have not
at least dabbled in," Marsh says. He has
worked in maintenance, housekeeping, kitchen,
and conferencing, and at one point was in
charge of each of these
departments at Grotonwood.
Marsh began
at Redwood Glen in July, and
accepted the new position as Associate
Director because it was evident to him that
the camp "was ready to move forward and
fulfill the vision that God had for them.
They were ready to do whatever it would take
to reach the goal. That sort of attitude
energizes me; it invigorates me. It was
something I wanted to be a part of."
Marsh and Ginny,
his wife of 30 years,
now make
their home at Redwood Glen, with their
youngest son, Isaac, who is finishing
up his
senior year of home schooling. Noah ,
the Coleman's oldest son, has been traveling
around the country but spent a few weeks at camp
to help with the MacArthur makeover.
Marsh's
second son is following in his
father's footsteps in camping ministry. Josiah currently
serves as the kitchen
manager at
Grotonwood, where he makes his home with his
wife, Linda, and the Coleman's
granddaughter, Faith.
Though he
is on duty 6-days a week, Marsh enjoys pen and ink
sketching and watercolor painting during his
free time. He also enjoys
playing "handyman" around the house, and
watching movies, especially "Rocky."
When it
comes to why he continues to be
involved with Christian camping, Marsh most
values "being used by God as a vehicle to
draw others closer to Him. At Redwood Glen,
our ministry is to make a place that is
conducive to what God has for those who come
here. I can’t think of anything more
rewarding than that."
You can
reach Marsh at (650) 879-0320 x13 or
via email at director@redwoodglen.com.
