WELCOME

OUR VISION:
"To
Reflect Christ through Serving Others"
A WORD FROM OUR
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Since
1999 I have talked with hundreds of
current and former campers, counselors, and staff who have shared
countless
stories of how God has transformed their lives here at Redwood Glen.
Within
30 minutes of our first e-newsletter
going out we had one former camper call to give a donation towards the
MacArthur Makeover because of her memories of staying in MacArthur her
first
year as a camper. MacArthur was known as
the cabin "closest to God" because it was up the hill.
For generations, Redwood
Glen has been a very
special place where children, youth and adults have life changing
encounters
with Jesus Christ that for so many campers has literally turned their
lives
around.
Since 1958 when Redwood
Glen was founded by a group of
American Baptist churches, our ministry has been blessed by the support
of churches, families, and individuals. Now more
than ever we continue to need your
support and partnership.
We do our best to charge
our guest groups just enough to pay for
our ongoing monthly expenses, but we do rely on extra contributions
from people like
you in order to repair buildings like MacArthur Cabin. I
hope you will prayerfully consider helping
us meet our financial needs so we can complete the MacArthur
Makeover.

Hello
Friend of Redwod Glen
WELCOME to the second monthly e-newsletter of Redwood Glen, your local
Bay Area Christian Camp and Conference Center (www.redwoodglen.com).
As the wet of winter fades into the first signs of spring, we are hard
at work preparing for summer with seven program camps, and a new and
improved MacArthur cabin for our guest groups. We hope that you
are making plans to join us in 2007. If not, we hope this update
will whet your appetite to check out all the new things planned for
Redwood Glen.

MacArthur
Makeover
On ABC's reality series, Extreme
Makeover Home Edition, friends and neighbors often come out to
help in the reconstruction. For Redwood Glen's reality makeover
of MacArthur, such has been our experience as well.
From the first $50 pledge from a former camper whose rookie year at
Redwood Glen was in MacArthur, to recent larger donors with longer
histories with the camp, to churches which are beginning to organize
special offerings, all that we can say is THANK YOU!!
Originally built in 1966, MacArthur cabin was dedicated in July of that
year by MacArthur Community Baptist in San Pablo in honor of
Mr. and Mrs. Othel L. Reinhardt. The new MacArthur cabin will build
upon this heritage, while making improvements for our guests to last
for years to come. According to Facilities Director Peter Dodson, "the quality of work
is exceptional."
With the roof completed just before the February rains, the camp's
Maintenance Crew has been hard at work insulating, wiring, and
upgrading the plumbing and heating systems. Through the service
of some awesome volunteers, the installation of sheet rock is nearly
done. "We are making good progress and should be complete by
early April as scheduled," Peter said.
Though funds for the new MacArthur cabin are being received by the
office, more still needs to be raised to reach our new projected goal
of $20,000. If you would like to make a donation, please send
your tax-deductible gift to Redwood Glen and note: "MacArthur
Makeover". If you would like to make your donation via credit
card, please call the camp office at (650) 879-0320.
We are still also looking for stories of "MacArthur Moments". If
you have one you'd like to share, please email us at news@redwoodglen.com.

Sara Clark returns
for her second year as
our Summer Camp Program Director. She is working with an
enthusiastic group of directors who are recruiting top-notch staff for
each of our camps.
From kindergarten through high school, there are camps for all ages,
including a new backpacking adventure for middle schoolers.
Sara says
that she is excited about seeing the kids again this summer and
getting to know them better. Her goal is for each camper to enjoy
their experience
at camp, to appreciate the outdoors, and to get to know more about who
Christ is.
In the
coming months, we will be highlighting our summer camps.
If you have a testimony about your experience at Redwood Glen from
summer 2006, please
let us know and we may feature it in a future issue of our
e-newsletter.

Staff
highlight: PETER DODSON
For Facilities Director Peter Dodson,
the ministry of service and restoration are the most rewarding aspects
of his work at Redwood Glen. With the MacArthur Makeover and
upkeep of our grounds and facilities after the winter rains, Peter has
provided the leadership and encouragement needed to mobilize our
maintenance crew in their service during this very busy time of
restoration.
"God has really blessed Redwood Glen in terms of the skill and
expertise of the staff," said Peter, who joined the Redwood Glen family
this last summer.
"The opportunity to contribute in so many diverse ways and in a
beautiful setting such as this" are two of the factors that led Peter
to leave a small business venture he had started with a long-time
friend, and to begin his ministry at the camp.
Currently a resident of nearby La Honda, Peter was born and raised in
the East Bay, where he graduated from Simpson College when it was still
in San Francisco. After marrying Ferneyn,
his wife of 29 years, they moved to La Honda where they raised 3
sons. Jacob who is now
Pastor of Music and Arts at Peninsula Bible Church lives in Palo
Alto. PJ (Peter Josiah)
is a firefighter and makes his home in Fresno with his wife Melinda and the Dodson's
granddaughter Kaylie.
Their youngest son, Timothy,
is still at home and is a part-time student at Canada College.
For Peter, the most challenging part of his job as Facilities Director
is simply "getting it all done. As time progresses it becomes
clear that the job is never done." Yet when the day is done,
Peter enjoys listening to good music (jazz/blues/rock), barbecuing, and
hiking at the beach.
