OUR MISSION:
"To Reflect Christ through Serving Others"

A WORD FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

With Christmas less than two weeks away, I find myself wondering where this past year has gone as so much of my time has been focused on reconnecting with those touched by the 50 years of ministry here.

In so many ways we have been celebrating all year.  We saw camper totals reach in 4 weeks what we used to have in a whole summer in the early days.  Through the generosity of churches and individuals we nearly met our camp scholarship needs for the 495 children and youth who enjoyed a week of camp.

Thank you all for your prayers, support and encouragement.  Please continue to pray for our ministry as 2009 is likely to be a challenging year for many ministries.

To all of you this Christmas, may you celebrate this  season full of the  love our God showed in sending baby Jesus, the Good News that shall be for ALL the people.

Hello Friend of Redwood Glen
WELCOME to the monthly on-line newsletter of Redwood Glen, your local Bay Area Christian Camp and Conference Center.

With Christmas approaching and a new year soon to begin, we look back at the gift 2008 was for Redwood Glen as we celebrated our 50th year of ministry.  We appreciate all your support and hope that we have blessed you as much as you have been a blessing to us.  Thank you for a wonderful year.

2008: A BANNER YEAR...
With our 50th anniversary, 2008 has been a blessing, but it was busy with record numbers of campers in our summer programs and guest groups nearly every weekend throughout the year.  (We were stormed out and had to cancel groups one weekend this past year!)  We are grateful for the opportunities God has given us to serve you and your church/organization this past year, but also during the last 50.  Through your generosity, support, and use of our facilities for your ministry, we look forward to being a part of your life and your church for the next 50.

Merry Christmas from the staff
We look forward to serving you in the new year.

50 years of ministry:
A YEAR TO REMEMBER

Redwood Glen Baptist CampAs 2008 comes to a close, it has been a privilege and a blessing to celebrate our 50th anniversary with you.  Thank you for the stories and pictures.  Though we have not yet featured all of them in our e-newsletter, we plan to include as many as we can in the coming year.

In retrospect of the year, we'd like to share some comments that we've overheard about Redwood Glen and some photos from our 50th Anniversary Celebrations this past summer.

Words from the woods...
"If I had a choice every year between coming to Redwood Glen or having Christmas, I'd rather come to Redwood Glen!"

"When I have friends or family visit from out of town, we will swing by Redwood Glen to show them the camp since it is such a large part of our lives and our church."

"Redwood Glen has given my kids a place to fellowship with other Christian kids, and meet with Jesus in very special ways."

"Redwood Glen has given me a place to find rest and refreshment for my soul.  It has been a place where the people in my family, and church have made and strengthened friendships."

THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL 50th YEAR!

  For GUEST GROUP LEADERS...
In appreciationIn appreciation for the support our rental groups provide, Redwood Glen is hosting a dinner on Sunday, January 11, 2009 for group leaders.  It is our way of saying THANK YOU for choosing us as your camp and conference center.  We recognize that church/office mail can become a black hole and your invitation may have gotten lost.  If you did not receive one or would like more information on the event, please email us or give us call.  Please RSVP by January 5th via email, phone, or simply send in the reply card.

The gift of campA GIFT THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME
Do you know a child who has never experienced the wonder of a week of camp?  Maybe it's a grandchild, a nephew or niece.  Maybe the child of a friend or a teen in the youth group?  Maybe it's your own young one!  Whether a first time camper or a camping veteran, Redwood Glen is offering to all children and youth a limited time only, early registration discount for our 2009 summer camps.

For $195, give the gift of a Redwood Glen summer camp.
At our program camps, we provide a safe, affirming environment where children and youth can experience the blessings of Christian community.  Amid the beauty of God's creation, young people hear of God's love and the good news of Jesus Christ so they may grow in faith.  A variety of camps are offered which target the range of ages and interests of this emerging generation.

This early online registration price for our 2009 summer camps is $195 if paid in full, or $200 with a $100 deposit and one final payment of $100.  This one-time, limited offer expires on December 24th, thus making it a perfect Christmas gift.  (And it requires no wrapping!)  There's no better gift to give at Christmas than the gift of Jesus through a Redwood Glen summer camp.

METAMORPHOSIS CONFERENCES: A blessing for your mind, spirit, and wallet!
by Joan Friesen, Metamorphosis and Church Relations Director
I just returne
d from a national conference in Florida.  While the speakers were challenging and I came back with good learnings to apply, the overall conference was down by over 300 participants from last year.  Why?  Too many could not afford the over $500 conference fee plus airfare, hotel, and meals.

Metamorphosis Conferences are designed to bring you an enriching learning experience and great people connections, while making it affordable and close to home.  I hope you will take advantage of our earliest registration deadline for our Pastors Conference.  (See details below.)  Register by December 20th for only $139.00.

LEARNING AND LEADING WITH A DIVINE DESIGN
2009 Pastors ConferenceThird annual Pastors Conference - February 16-18, 2009

Do you ever get great ideas from other pastors that simply don't work for you?  Ever wonder why suggestions for improving your prayer life fall flat?  Or why certain leaders don't seem to "click" with your personality?  God has created each of us uniquely, and that affects both the way we live out our spiritual walk and how we minister as pastors and church leaders.  We'll be exploring these themes over the three days of our 2009 Pastor's Conference.

DIVINE DESIGN: Leading the Way God Created Me will be held February 16-18 in our Siden Conference Center.  Besides the usual great food and comfortable accommodations, inspiring worship and personal sharing with other pastors, you will have the opportunity to balance learning and input time with rest and care for yourself.  Rev. Scott Wylie, pastor of the Susanville United Methodist Church, will be our key presenter.  Scott is finishing his doctoral dissertation on personality types and pastoral leadership.  In addition, spiritual directors will be available to help you explore your uniquesness and how you can best connect with Christ on a dailty basis.   There are discounts for early registration, so don't wait!  A downloadable registration form is available via the link below.  Email meta@redwoodglen.comor call (650) 879-0320 x44 for more information.

MetamorphosisThrough Metamorphosis, Redwood Glen provides learning and renewal experiences for pastors, associate staff, and church leaders seeking to enrich their lives and ministries.
The 2009 Pastor's Sabbath dates are June 14-19.  Email us for more information or to make a reservation after January 1st.  Can't wait until the summer?
