OUR MISSION:
"To Reflect Christ through Serving Others"

A WORD FROM OUR
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Genesis 18: 4-5,
"Please let a little water be brought and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree; and I will bring a piece of bread, that you may refresh yourselves; after that you may go on, since you have visited your servant."

What a joy it has been to be in partnership with all of the guest groups who came to Redwood Glen this past summer.

In spite the economy, people came in great numbers and for all sorts of reasons:
you came to rest and be rejuvenated;
you came to play in the ball field and dangle your feet in the pool;
you came to walk the trails among the redwood trees, observe the deer in our apple orchard and visit the beautiful pacific coast.

Primarily, you came to seek God for the first time or to seek a deeper relationship with Him.

We have been honored to partner with you by providing a clean, safe and comfortable facility and environment, great food and a great staff whose only desire is to minister to you while you are with us.

On behalf of the Housekeeping staff, Maintenance staff, Foodservice staff and Guest Services staff, I would like to say thank you for a great and blessed summer season.

You are the reason we do what we do.

Hello Friend of Redwood Glen
WELCOME to the monthly online newsletter of Redwood Glen, your local Bay Area Christian Camp and Conference Center.  If you would like to subscribe and receive this monthly newsletter via email, please register your address via the link on our homepage    (www.redwoodglen.com).

As summer turns into fall, the staff takes a collective breath as we assess the season that was and prepare for the season that will be.  While Marsh celebrates the success of the summer, we are asking all of you, as our camp friends and family, to consider the blessing of camp in your life and to share them with us.  With the grounds also taking a breath after a busy few months, our staff has assessed our equipment needs as the wear and tear of day to day labor takes its toll.  Would you consider making a financial contribution so that Redwood Glen can continue to effectively serve our guests this fall?

ARE YOU MISSING CAMP?  We're missing you, too!
JrHi/SrHi wetWith school back in session and summer vacations completed, the sounds of kids running through the woods have given way to the quiet rustling of wind in the trees as the deer graze peacefully on the grass in the ball field.  Fall has come to Redwood Glen.

As much as we enjoy the breathing room this season brings, we do miss YOU, and the hustle and bustle of the continuous stream of summer's smiling faces.

If you are you missing camp (as we are missing you), we have suggestion.

Would you consider taking a few minutes to write up a few sentences about one of the following?

- WHAT do you miss most about camp?
- WHY is Redwood Glen meaningful to you?
- HOW have you grown in your faith because of your time in the redwoods?
- ANYTHING that you would like to share and would want others to know about the significance of Redwood Glen in your life.

CMAD songAs we gear up for next summer and create publicity to bring new groups to our facilities, we are wanting to incorporate the stories and testimonies from people like you who know the value of time on retreat, the fun of a week of camp, the renewal that comes from the redwoods.

Whether a first time camper or a lifelong Redwood Glen "camp booster," we hope that you will consider sending us your story and testimony to help us as we share the ministry of Redwood Glen with others.

As our 2010 summer theme declares, What happens at camp, doesn't stay at camp!

We hope that you will share with us how camp has been a blessing in your life and in the life of your family.  Send your stories to us at news@redwoodglen.com or mail it to: 100 Wright Drive, Loma Mar, CA  94021.

WILL CHRISTMAS COME EARLY?
Not only does our camp staff work hard all year, but our camp EQUIPMENT also takes a beating.  As we assess our post-summer needs, there are three wish list items which would help our ministry run more effectively all year-long.

Will you consider making a financial contribution so that Redwood Glen might continue to provide the best service for our guests?

Our current equipment needs include:
(1) vacuum cleaners: Day in and day out, week after week, month after month our vacuum cleaners work hard to remove all that redwood dirt and dust that gets tromped into buildings and rooms with each group.  Down one machine this season and given all the buildings we have, our housekeeping staff did a stellar job with two vacuum cleaners we have on site.  We know another one is needed.

(2) All-Terrain Vehicles: You think going up the MacArthur hill is a challenge, imagine the wear and tear on our camp vehicles that zip up and down the trails and into Indian Point.  Named "Bill" and "John" after the donors who financed them, our current gas-powered vehicles have seen their share of shop repairs.  "Bill" and "John" are looking for a "Mary" or "Jose" to join their team.  Would you consider being a donor for our next ATV?  You'll get to help name him (or her).

(3) Portable Pressure Washers: As much as our staff enjoys the beauty of the redwoods, there is something about the dust of the redwoods that collects not only on the carpets indoors, but also builds up on the outside of the buildings and roofs.  Pressure washers give our maintenance crew a leg up on this task, and a small, one person pressure washer will allow for portability and flexibility.

If you are able to financially support one of these items, please contact Marsh at director@redwoodglen.com.  We would love to talk to you about the opportunity of partnering with you in making items from our wish list a reality.
