Happy New Year!

Starting a new year is a great time to think back on what you have accomplished in the last year and prepare to accomplish new things in the year ahead.

Vallejo AmigosOne of my greatest "collective" memories of 2010 is the number of volunteer experiences we had at Redwood Glen. I am not sure that we had the greatest number of volunteers in our camp's history, but we had an amazingly dedicated group this year.

We had summer staff who volunteered the entire summer and some into the fall.  We had volunteers who came up in every sort of weather to work wherever needed: in the office, in the kitchen, even out in the rain clearing drainage ditches.  Our staff is like a family which our volunteers help extend.

As I say goodbye to 2010 and welcome in 2011, my wife would like my resolution to be to lose 20 lbs.; thus weight loss -- my new year's resolution will be.

What are your resolutions for the new year?  Have you considered adding "Volunteer for a Great Organization" to your list this year?

paintingFor Redwood Glen, volunteers are the ministry partners for our staff for they help make ministry happen.  They extend our reach, multiply our gifts, and are catalysts for more effective Christian service.

If you're a good painter, if you like to split wood, if you enjoy making salads, washing dishes and baking cookies, if you would like to answer phones and greet guests, or if you just love to rake, we can hook you up and induct you into our family.  Give me a call (650-879-0320) and we'll appreciate you all to pieces.

In the mean time, consider taking our volunteer survey to see how your gifts can be used at Redwood Glen.  And by the way, we are now accepting applications for the summer.  Would you be willing to give yourself to Redwood Glen and serve for a summer?  Volunteering at camp may turn out to be the best summer of your life!

happy handsIf you aren't able to volunteer, consider instead giving Redwood Glen to a child by underwriting a campership.  All Redwood Glen camps this year are under $200.  A gift of $200 would allow a child to experience a week learning of Christ and the love God the Father has for us.

If you can help or would like to partner in ministry in other ways with Redwood Glen, you can go to our website, www.redwoodglen.com, click the "support" button and see where the Lord leads.

Thanks for "listening", and feel free to call or send me an email (director@redwoodglen.com).  Let me know what your New Year's resolution is as you encourage me to lose the 20lbs.  It will make my wife so happy.

In Christ's service,
