A WORD
FROM OUR NEW EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR:
Dear Friends,
Being a life-long
New Englander, I
grew up loving to
walk in the
woods. I have
always enjoyed the
quiet and peaceful
trails as you pass
beautiful trees and
flora along the
way. I imagine
others who, in years
past, also walked
through these same
paths and enjoyed
the beauty, as
well. That is
inspiration!
Now I live in sunny
California; and I
had an opportunity
to stroll the trails
of Redwood Glen this
week, simply to have
a moment of time to
think and
pray. While I
walked, I saw the
huge Redwood trees
on each side of the
trail, and I could
not resist. I
had to walk up to
them and marvel at
their size and
beauty.
Another trail
intersected, and I
began to follow it
in search of each
individual tree and
appreciate the
splendor of this
amazing creation.
Then, in the middle
of the forest, I sat
on an old stump
amidst the silence
and the giants to
pray, listen and
seek
inspiration.
God moved me, and
this spot became a
"sacred place" for
me. It was a
place that God
provided for me to
gain a deeper
understanding of the
ministry that
happens here at
Redwood Glen.
You see, just
like my experience
in this breathtaking
forest, Redwood Glen
will provide a place
of inspiration in
your life and the
lives of
others. The
setting provides a
space where you can
separate from the
challenges of your
daily life and find
your "sacred place,"
a place where you
can stop and listen
for God without the
noise of life.
I wonder. Do
you have a "sacred
place" at
camp? Perhaps
your spot is at one
of the outdoor
chapels or around a
campfire with a
roaring blaze.
Maybe it's a spot on
one of our hiking
trails or, possibly,
it is in one of our
conference rooms
where you made an
important decision
in your life.
I hope you have
found that place;
and if not, I invite
you to join us at
Redwood Glen and
experience this
unique place for
yourself once again.

Redwood Glen summer
camps. As Christians, it
is through "Fixing our eyes on
Jesus" that we come to know
the fullness of life God has
for us. Jesus is our
FOCUS, our goal, our
inspiration. We hope
that you will make plans to
send your children (or
grandchildren) to camp this
upcoming summer. Giving

Bring yourself, your family,
your friends, your church -
anyone who wants to come -
for a day of volunteerism
and service as we prepare
the grounds for the summer
rush.
(2) OPEN HOUSE
(Saturday, June 30)
= With a new Executive
Director on board, we are
planning a BIG party this
summer. Come celebrate
the final performance of our
Children's Music And Drama
Camp, and join other
churches in the area for a
day of fun in the sun.
A barbecue lunch, activities
for families including food
booths, and crafts, along
with tours and a dedication
are currently being planned.
VOLUNTEER AND WORK
OPPORTUNITIES
Summer may be our busiest
times at camp, but we are
always looking for helping
hands and smiling faces to
volunteer or join our summer
staff. If you are
interested in offering your
services as a volunteer
throughout the year or
applying for a summer
