During the off-peak season (September thru May)
Lodges are designed to best suit small events of 20-30 attendees, and
as such, most often reserved for events of this size.
During the peak summer season, Shepherd Lodge
opens up into a much larger facility sleeping up to 60 people. Combined
with outdoor meeting areas and our gorgeous temperate summer weather,
Shepherd Lodge is a beautiful choice for groups up to 60.
Both of Redwood Glen's Camp Lodges boast:
- Full In-Lodge Bathrooms
- Hot and Cold Water Sinks, Flush Toilets,
Hot Showers
- Bring your own soap and hand towels!
- Guest controlled heat (no need to freeze in
the woods here - keep your lodge toasty warm!)
- Standard 110 volt electrical outlets (for
your alarm clock, etc.)
- Sturdy Bunk beds (Mattress included of course,
but bring your own sleeping bag or bedding and pillow!)
- Professional housekeeping services clean every
Redwood Glen facility between every event.
Overview:
Shepherd Lodge is our most popular
camp facility for small groups. Its cozy central meeting room with fireplace
and carpet throughout the lodge make it a very inviting
and woodsy lodge. Two large bunk rooms, very similar to what you find
in the cabins and Retreat Lodge, are supplemented by two ‘private’
bedrooms, unique to Shepherd Lodge. Each private room has four beds
and a private bathroom with one sink, toilet, and shower.
Meeting:
Shepherd Lodge boasts a cozy central
meeting room. It features a fireplace, soft seating, and all the standard
Redwood Glen Meeting Room equipment like TV/VCR, Dry Erase Whiteboard,
Overhead Projector, etc. The room is small (17 x 25'), but can comfortably
accommodate up to about 30 guests with chairs in rows for a preaching/teaching/speaking
session. Shepherd Lodge features four tables that can be combined to make a board-room style table.
They fold up to allow for chairs in rows in the meeting
room or one can be moved indoors to the meeting room, making a great
place for card or board games, craft activities, etc.
Shepherd Lodge features a large back porch located
directly off of the meeting room. The back porch, a carpeted, covered
area, is large enough to accommodate both large board-room style tables
placed end to end with room to spare. The back porch is great for crafts
or table games/activities. It makes a nice breakout area for small group
discussion, or is a beautiful area to just kick back with a good book,
to soak up some fresh air and enjoy the wooded view.
Sleeping:
Shepherd Lodge features two large
bunk rooms like you’ll find in all our cabins and lodges, as well
as two private rooms found only in Shepherd Lodge.
The two bunk rooms are located on the lower level
of the lodge. One bunk room sleeps ten, one sleeps twelve. The two rooms
are separated by a central hallway. Each bunk room has its own door
leading into the central hallway. Some groups would find this suitable
separation for each room to house a different gender; some groups would
prefer to keep both rooms for just one gender. These two bunk rooms
and the central hallway between them comprise the entirety of the lower
level of Shepherd Lodge.
The two private rooms are both located on the
upper level. Each has beds sleeping four and a private in-room bathroom.
Each bathroom has one sink, one toilet, and one shower. The front private
room has two single beds and one bunk bed. The central private room
has four single beds.
During the off-peak season, the two lower level
bunk rooms and the two private rooms make up all of the 30 beds for
the lodge. During the peak summer season five additional rooms located
on the upper level, which serve as offices during the off-peak season,
become bunk rooms. These five additional upper level rooms accommodate
30 additional bunk beds, increasing the total capacity of Shepherd Lodge
to 60 in the peak summer season.
Common Bathrooms:
Shepherd Lodges features two nice
central common bathrooms. One has two sinks, two toilets, and two showers.
The other has three sinks, three toilets, and two showers.
Outdoor Campfire Circle:
Shepherd Lodge, has its own outdoor
campfire circle. Located directly behind Shepherd Lodge, benches with
backs seat up to 75 people around a beautiful brick lined fire circle.
Floor Plan:
As noted above, Shepherd Lodge sleeps 30
in the off-peak season (September thru May), as well as provides five
‘office’ rooms for our Outdoor School Science Camps. In
the peak summer season (June thru August), the five office rooms are
turned into bunk rooms, increasing the total capacity of Shepherd to
60.
