Public Hearing with San Mateo County
Will You Help Out?

It’s been over four years, but Redwood Glen is finally on the threshold of becoming water independent. Our environmental review documentation was accepted yesterday (Aug. 10) allowing us to move on to the next important step: the Public Hearing for our Use Permit with San Mateo County. It is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 6th, 2018 at 10am.

We are asking for your help in this process by doing one or more of the following:

  1. Sign our letter asking the Zoning Hearing Officer to approve our project.
    • For those of you living within San Mateo County, the electronic version is here (link), and a printable pdf is (here) for distribution.
    • For those of you living outside San Mateo County, the electronic version is here (link), and a printable pdf is (here) for distribution.
  2. Write your own letter of recommendation. Share a story of how Redwood Glen impacted your life, or a friend or relative, and why you are asking the Zoning Hearing Officer to approve Redwood Glen’s Permit; especially if you can connect it to Redwood Glen’s role in the community as a provider of housing or employment opportunities, leadership development, or environmental stewardship. Email or mail it to:
    • lrichstone@smcgov.org (she gave us permission to send out her email address)
    • Laura Richstone
      Planning and Building Department
      455 County Center, 2nd Floor
      Redwood City, CA 94063
    • Send a copy to MyStory@RedwoodGlen.com so we can hear, too – it is always encouraging to our staff to hear the many ways Redwood Glen has impacted your lives. If you send a hard copy, please send an additional copy to Redwood Glen.
      • Spread the word. Forward this newsletter, post the link to our letter on your social media account, print copies of the letter and give them to others at your church, organization, family, and others you know who have benefited from Redwood Glen. (Please mail downloaded and signed copies of the letter to Redwood Glen.)
      • Pray. Be in prayer for the camp now and at 10am Thursday, September 6th. Pray the Zoning Hearing Officer hears the need for Redwood Glen’s water project; pray our county planner and Redwood Glen’s engineers and representatives are able to articulate its case clearly; and pray for the public in attendance to be receptive to the project.
      • Donate. This has been a costly process. The financial impact of getting a self sustaining water facility built and permitted has taken its toll on Redwood Glen’s finances and reserves. We are persevering, but red tape is very expensive.

Important: Our deadline is Fri., Aug. 31. All letters, petitions and email need to be delivered to the County (address above) and/or to Redwood Glen no later than this date to get them processed, bundled and delivered on time.

And thank you. Your help, here, is invaluable.
