Rev. Bryant Wright, First Camp Director
New Water System . . . . . . Finally Operational
It was 1,683 days from the time that the County of San Mateo announced they were turning off the water to Redwood Glen, the camp was allowed to start up its own water system and serve its residents and guests. Water from Hoffman Creek, flowing through the property, and nearby Piney Creek travel to the water treatment facility near the trail head to Indian Point.
The long and arduous process included working with the California State Water Resources Control Board and then the San Mateo County Planning and Building Department to obtain the proper permits to build and operate.
The next time you visit Redwood Glen, you will taste the fresh, clean, on site filtered water of Redwood Glen!

Redwood Glen’s First Camp Director
Redwood Glen mourns the loss of its very first camp director. The Rev. J. Bryant Wright passed away Feb. 16, 2019 at the age of 95. In 1955, he and his new bride, Jane, moved from Philadelphia to California where Bryant became Director of Christian Education and Camping for the American Baptist Union of the San Francisco Bay Cities. He was part of the crew that negotiated the purchase of the 165 acre property now known as Redwood Glen. After his time here, Bryant served at the First Baptist Church of Menlo Park and the First Baptist Church of San Carlos until his retirement in 1993.
A memorial service will be held in Bryant’s honor this Saturday at 4:00pm at the
First Baptist Church of San Carlos, 787 Walnut St.
Donations can be made in Bryant’s name to Redwood Glen.
