March 2018 Update:

Several things are happening this month:

  • We are continuing to move through the Resource Management/Use Permit process with the County Planning Department.  Based on a very favorable Biology Report regrading out project, our County Planner is writing up what is known as a ‘Negative Declaration’ Form:  basically, a very formal declaring our project is not anticipated to have any negative impacts on the environment.  Once this is completed, they will circulate this document around all the various local/state/federal agencies for review.  Since we have already worked with most, if not all, these agencies on this project, we are optimistic that this will be a relatively swift process and mid to late April will be able to share with you the next steps in this process.
  • The picture above shows an overview of what the final treatment plant project will look like.  It represents the building plans that were approved (note: the permit process described above is for us to use the treatment plant; separately, we have already been granted permission to build the treatment plant) last september.  We are well on our way to completing it this spring.  You can see the structure on our facility now below the Siden Conference Center (near the trailhead of ‘A’ trail).  Mainly, the work now consists of electrical and plumbing in the interior of the structure.
  • We are continuing to raise funds for this project and the ongoing ministry of the camp.  To donate, head here. Individual and church donations have so far covered nearly a third of the project, and we have secured funding for approximately another 50% of the project, so if you are able, consider donating and helping us close the last 15% or so that remains.
  • Save the Date:  We are making preparations for a dedication and tours of the new treatment plant at our 60th Anniversary Jubilee, July 14th, so please plan to join us; it should be a very special day as we commemorate 60 years along with the treatment plant dedication.
