Adventure Camp
July 8-13, 2019
Completing 4th – 6th grade

“Let us lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely, and let us RUN with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.” – Hebrews 12:1-2  These past few years, the Lord has been teaching us here at Redwood Glen a thing or two about perseverance.  One lesson:  perseverance is not an end unto itself – we do not persevere for its own sake; but because we want to obtain to something, or become something, or someone.  Verse 2 goes on to say about Jesus, “who for the joy that was set before Him.”  This is why we run.  This is why we persevere.  For Redwood Glen, it is the joy of serving.  The joy of bringing others into a relationship with Him, or into a deeper one.  For us all, it is the joy of hearing the Master say, “Well Done”, and “Come, enter into my rest”.  But running a race requires training, especially if we intend to finish.  So, we’ll explore strategies for persevering such as setting our focus as a runner (hint: vs. 2), how to avoid carrying unnecessary baggage, and we will also look to examples of those who ran before.    This summer, come train with us.

Quick programming note – for those of you that were with us last year, you will remember that last year was an unusual year where we hosted all our camps in tents on an undeveloped portion of our property.  We had a great time last year, and really enjoyed our time with those of you that were able to make the switch with us, but this year, for those camps we normally host in our cabins and developed portion of our facilities, we will be returning to our normal accommodations.  But, for those of you really itching to get back outdoors, make sure you try our Adventure Camp or Pioneer Camp.  Look forward to training with you!
