July 14-17, 2019
Completing 1st – 4th grade
Please note: there have been some changes to our program camps this year. For the reasons why, please check out our post over here; or keep reading for details about the changes. This year we have consolidated some of our camps and are hosting them down at Indian Point, a section of our property that has not been developed. After clicking on the online registration link, you will be able to view how the camps have been consolidated and what weeks are available.
Next year, we will return to our normally scheduled camps, but we are very excited about this opportunity for this year. We have been hosting ‘back-country’ style camps here for over 30 years (Junior Adventure Camp), and more recently had begun expanding our camping opportunities there with Pioneer Camp and Middler Camp a few years ago. Talk to any of these campers or their parents and you will quickly discover the treat that your camper is in for this summer. The setting is more intimate and relaxed – more opportunities to rub shoulders with their counselors and engage in deep discussions. These camps that have historically operated this way routinely received the highest marks of all our camps from our campers and their parents alike.
This will be a ‘throw-back’ experience, which is only fitting for our 60th anniversary. Campers will have great ‘chuck-wagon’ style meals, cooked over an open flame (don’t worry, our food service staff will handle this); sleeping in tent-groups in a counselor supported environment very similar to their cabin experience; and just like a high-sierra back-packing camp that ends its week dropping into Yosemite Valley to make use of the pool and other public facilities there, our campers will occasionally drop by our developed facilities to make use of the pool or a meeting room for a movie-night (or like activities). Better than the typical experience will be their opportunities to check out the stars, to have deep and meaningful conversations with their peers and our trained counselors, to experience their Creator directly through His Creation, experience anew what our Christian forerunners have been experiencing in the wilderness ever since Abraham: an encounter with God, and develop friendships that will last a lifetime. Who knew that you could have a back-packing experience without the back-packing?! This will be the perfect experience for campers of all ages with the intimacy these style of camps brings but within a close proximity of our facilities to make sure it is a safe and fun environment for all. We will also have staff available in the the office all week long to pass along camper mail and answer questions (please reference the ‘Correspondence’ section of our Parent/Camper Info Notice). If you have any questions or concerns about this exciting opportunity for our program camps this year, please do not hesitate to contact us at (650) 879-0320 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
